FVP National Sprint League Notes from Knoxville Raceway!

Windom, MN (June 29, 2015) – It was a break of almost a month, but the FVP National Sprint League roared back into action Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway in Iowa. It was a familiar face at the end of the night, as current point leader, Danny Lasoski notched his third win of the season, and second at the “Sprint Car Capital of the World”!

Hunting Big Game – Everyone is chasing the Big Game Motorsports #2 right now. Danny Lasoski and crew chief, Guy Forbrook are on a roll! “The Dude” notched his third win of the season with the NSL Saturday night. It was also his third win of 2015 at Knoxville. The nine-time Knoxville champ worked by Justin Henderson early and rolled to his 105th career win on the ½-mile.

Tight Squeeze – Ian Madsen had some tough luck Saturday night. After trying to move under Justin Henderson into second in the feature, he ran out of room and rode up over the infield berm in turn three. That sent the KCP Racing #18 careening across the racetrack, backing hard into the fence. Unfortunately, that put an end to the St. Mary’s, New South Wales driver’s night. This weekend should put Ian back on track, as he has several wins at both Huset’s and Knoxville the past few years.

A Juhl of a Car – Matt Juhl sported new colors last weekend on his #09. He reports the look is still in the finishing stages, but his familiar orange and blue look of years past has replaced the black and red courtesy of Octane Ink. The former Estherville, Iowa driver is now living in Sioux Falls.

Henderson is Rolling – Whenever the NSL rolls into Knoxville, Justin Henderson is ready to defend the home turf. He registered the Minnesota Mafia quick time award, and then dominated in 360 competition as well. He led early in the feature before Lasoski got by. He would hold onto second.

Tatnell Climbing – Brooke Tatnell completed the podium on Saturday with his third place finish. The driver of the Barry and Vivian Lewis/TK Concrete #55 has been very strong as of late and climbed a spot in the point standings last weekend. He is carrying the momentum from last winter when he won his record ninth World Series Sprintcars title in his native Australia.

Brown Shakes Bad Luck – The bad luck that had been plaguing Brian Brown of late, especially at Knoxville, seemed to have been a memory on Saturday. In the NSL’s first event at Knoxville in May, he was a part of the crash that Terry McCarl was injured in. The black cloud had remained for the Grain Valley, Missouri driver at Knoxville, but he ran a strong fifth on Saturday, and climbed to second in the NSL point standings.

Big Weekend Ahead for DeBerg Concrete Triple Crown Challenge – A lot will be decided this weekend in the race for the $25,000 DeBerg Concrete Triple Crown Challenge! Drivers must win a NSL event at both Knoxville and Huset’s Speedway as well as the finale of the Jackson Nationals on September 5. So far, Lasoski is the only winner we’ve had at Knoxville, with this Saturday’s race, and the track’s Season Championship on August 29 the final two. Huset’s will host the NSL two more times before the Jackson Nationals. The track near Brandon, South Dakota will host this Friday, and on July 26.
